1- To start, you simply select the Become a Promoter option on my become a body by vi distributor website

2- You will be asked to choose a distributor kit of your choice. The choice I always recommend is the middle one (Executive $499). What’s Wrong With Sugar?

what is wrong with sugarToday I read a great post about sugar on the Vi blog and also found an article related to the same subject on another publication. It is really amazing how much information there is about the health complications of sugar and yet the public refuses to make a change.

Quick personal story on this image: when I was little growing up in Spain we used to go to lunch or breakfast or wherever and my parents would order an espresso and they were always served with a dish full of these little sugar cubes (as in the image here). I LOVED THESE!  I would sneak them and let them melt in my mouth… yum! I was a child. Didn’t know any better. In fact, not even grown ups back then really knew the implications. Good times, good times! :-)

 

I DO believe the public we are starting to see the light.

I have seen a definite shift in people’s eating habits towards healthier choices. At the very minimum it is definitely no longer “a thought” but the fact that prevention is the key to avoiding disease and not so much all these meds that only serve to mask the pain (although for many, that is maybe all they can do at that point).

I see a lot more groups that rally around raw eating, eating more vegetables, eating locally grown, juicing, even exercising, and promoting healthier living. I love it! It’s all about your overall change that will make a difference in your body, not just a shake here or there.

Yes I know I promote Visalus shakes, but I personally promote HEALTHIER living, not just shakes. As a matter of fact I have had clients who have started their 90 day challenge with me, drinking 1-2 shakes a day and after a few months they had shifted their eating habits to the point they KNEW what to eat and LOVED eating that way… for life. Do you still need shakes at that point? I don’t believe so!!!! Unless you love drinking them, which many do! They do have protein and they are healthy, but NO, alas, you don’t need to drink shakes for life if you are on a path of healthier eating and sticking to it! But many folks do need a catalyst to make a change, and the 90 Day Challenge often serve as just that!

Pineapple and Greens Visalus Shake Recipe

pineapple-greens visalus shake recipeHere is a little healthy twist to my regular shake choices. I am really happy with it. My husband and I started down the road of a more vegetable based diet. After watching several documentaries, and doing some research, well, we decided to give it a go to see what differences we find in our health.

Of course as with any diet change, you gotta take it slow and try to make sure it aligns with your taste (at least for the most part), and more importantly, your lifestyle. It has to “fit in”, if you would, and you have to like it! (at least I do! lol). So, we have embraced it. Been doing this for just over a month now. As a matter of fact, Cecil (husband) has lost 20lbs by simply switching to this alternative. I am encouraging him to write a blog post about exactly how he did it so look for that coming soon! And it had a lot more going on than just Visalus shakes, however, the shakes were part of the morning routine. More on that once he finishes his post. I will send a note, if you are subscriber here or a fan of my page, with a link to his post.

But I digress…

Here is my new invention (well, new to me). Since we discovered “juicing”, I’ve not only found it amazingly yummy and awesome, but also, a little clean-up nightmare. Yikes. So, in search for an organic, chemical free alternative that could come close to juicing so I can incorporate it more often, I came across organic greens!!! You can find these just about anywhere or at least at your local Whole Foods or Sprouts for sure. Just look for brands with no additives, and I also recommend that it is USDA organic and chemical free! If you wish to know what brand I am personally using, just send me a quick note and I will share it.

Pineapple and Greens Vi-shake recipe:

8-10oz unsweetened almond milk
2 scoops of Vi-shake mix
1 slice fresh pineapple (not more cuz pineapple is high in calories!)
1 serving of your favorite “greens” powder (if you don’t have greens, you could try some spinach!)
1/2 cup crushed ice (optional but adds to the taste of the shake cuz of the veggies and also adds thickness)
Blend well and sprinkle with some cinnamon. Garnish too if you wish.

Pressure Free Weight Loss

egg-veggie-scrambleDoesn’t it seem like as soon as we decide “I’m going on a diet”, this diet “state” is all you think about in your head? And geez, why is it that the next thought in our head is how hungry you are, even though you just ate? I want this, I want that, I crave this, I must have that, why can’t I eat this on this diet, I gotta focus, try harder, be brave, strong, committed, run, walk, meditate, one day at a time, one hour at a time? Say no to cake, get that dessert away from me, it smells like chocolate outside!!!! And on and on and on… at least that’s what used to go thru my head regularly, not in that order.

Why do you think that is? I’ll tell you why, because as soon as you tell yourself the word “can’t”, your mind starts to fight against it. It simply wants to live in a positive world! There ain’t nothing like someone telling you that you can’t do something for you to want to prove them wrong! Your mind is no different. This is a good reason why “diets” do not work. You are on a constant negative battle against your own will!

So, then, how can we even start to lose weight without restricting your thoughts? Here is a suggestion: consume your time before committing to any particular food group or system to really learning how your body actually processes the food you are currently eating. Seriously. If you really REALLY understood what goes in some of the processed food we are sold and put in our bodies, it would probably be enough to make you implement some changes NATURALLY. And that change wouldn’t be a “CAN’T have it change”, it would be a “I CAN have it but I DON’T WANT TO”! kind of change (I learned this by watching the documentary “Hungry For Change”). That’s just an example right there on how to help your mind change direction. It’s a complete paradigm shift.

Most human beings need a convincing enough reason to “change” anything about themselves. That reason needs to resonate with you. If you CHANGE for someone else, or on a whim because of what everyone else is doing, or the latest trend, without a solid reason behind it that you are completely behind, then chances are it is a temporary adjustment. Alcoholics LIVE this every day. So do ex-smokers. They found a reason to change and now choose differently so they stick with it!

So forget about the next fad diet, yes even Visalus if that doesn’t resonate with you. Focus on what DOES make sense to you nutritionally. Why do you eat what you eat and what’s in it? Have you watched “Vegucated”? It’s a documentary that will help you think twice about the food you eat (not a show that children should watch. It is pretty graphic about how animal food is created. I personally couldn’t sit through this, but my husband did… and it was good enough for him to make a change). Also others like “Food Matters”, or “Hungry For Change” are all free documentaries you can watch online. (Google them).

My husband and I have opted recently for a cleaner more organic based diet, less animal food (none for him after that show LOL) and more vegetable based. We’ve also incorporated juicing a couple times a week. Tell you what, when you make this kind of change for healthier, more organic alternatives, you don’t even have to THINK about weight loss. The lbs just fall off naturally. In about a span of 4 weeks by simply making this switch, my husband has lost about 10 lbs and 3% body fat, several inches around his body and has the energy to work out 45 minutes every single day. This compared to ZERO minutes of exercise previously. He is more alert, more focused, less irritated and in a heck of a better mood! And even loves to cook up some meals for us! SCORE!

So, if “going on a diet” makes you cringe, as it should, consider stepping outside that thought and educating yourself on healthier food that you will enjoy without restriction and that can be a part of your daily routine. But I warn you, if you stop reading this blog and start eating veggies all of the sudden without doing the research that convinces you whole heartedly, then you will again be wasting your time. You must reach the point where you say to yourself “I CAN EAT THAT but I DON’T WANT TO”… that alone will set you free.

Chocolate Banana Visalus Shake Recipe

I call this one CHOCO-BANANA

Easy to make and tastes little colder and thicker if you use frozen bananas. I sometimes use crushed ice if I forgot to freeze the bananas but you get the idea.

  • 8oz Almond milk (I use unsweetened milk)
  • 1/2 medium banana (preferably frozen)
  • 2 scoops of Vi-Shape mix
  • 1-2 tsp of cocoa
  • Crushed ice (optional – I use this if I forgot to freeze bananas)
  • Blend and enjoy!
  • Nutritional value (approx.): 180 calories, 9 g fiber, 15 g protein, 7 g sugar (banana), 17 carbs (bananas have tons of carbs, which are good if you are also exercising!)

How Do You Promote Body By Vi ?

What do I need to do, how does this program work, how much does it cost…

Becoming a distributor of Body by Vi, or becoming a distributor of Visalus products in general is essentially the same thing. Visalus is the name of the company and the Body by Vi Challenge is just the name of one of the programs offered by the company. In a nutshell, the Body by Vi 90 Day Challenge is a marketing name for the shake kits & it’s 90 Day timeframe recommendation.

 

That said, no, you are not required nor committed to BUY or even follow the program for 90 days. It is a monthly commitment only. It can be stopped, postponed or canceled at anytime.

This Body by Vi program is very much like purchasing a specific vacation package from Southwest airlines. They still offer regular roundtrip tickets as well, but the vacation packages are simply a combination of travel connections and destinations that when purchased together they give you a better deal and saves you time in organizing the pieces independently by yourself.

So, the Body by Vi 90 Day Challenge is a shake kit package that when followed according to instructions and for the time frame it suggest (90 Days), you will get the most significant results depending on your health goals. There are 5 Body by Vi shake kits you can choose from as a consumer. And to become a Visalus distributor, there are THREE Visalus distributor kits you can start with which contain the business tools AND also the product you need to start your business as well as your own 90 Day Challenge.

Visalus offers its distributors with a very simple to follow system for generating customer sales and also attracting other business minded people like yourself who would like to not only take the 90 Day Challenge, but maybe also promote it and make extra money doing so.

How much money you will make as a Visalus distributor depends on how often you promote, how many clients you acquire, and well, how committed you are to the level of income you want. I have people in my group who are happy with making just some extra cash and enjoying their shakes for free, others like being able to put away the money they earn for their kids college in the future, I have close to 45 distributors driving around in their monthly paid for BMW (I’ve earned mine as well), and we have plenty who do this full time and generate a generous full time income. It is up to you and your financial goals, how coachable you are, and your willingness to follow the system.

Primarily, promoters share the 90 Day Challenge by hosting challenge parties either at their home, via other hosts (customers), or if you have a large enough interest you can host a challenge party at a venue. Many challenge parties are actually hosted at local BMW dealerships! At these challenge parties the promoter mixes one to three different flavors of the shake for everyone in attendance to try, then pops in a 20 minute overview video that explains the program in detail to the guests. After the video, we share some testimonials, if applicable, about weight loss (maybe your own), or financial (such as if you or someone in your group is driving a paid BMW yet). Usually an upline distributor will either attend your event in person or will call in if out of town to help with testimonials.

Guests are given a form with an option to choose a shake kit to get started, or a Visalus distributor kit. Some will inquire about becoming a promoter and some won’t. Doesn’t matter. Visalus is focused primarily on generating new customers and as far as I am concerned those who are entrepreneurs at heart will come forth on their own. Owning a business is not for everybody and respecting that and allowing people to decide without pressure will help you gain respect, credibility and loyalty from your customers and friends.

There are individuals, just as myself, who have extensive internet marketing experience and who have been able to promote and acquire customers strictly via the internet. This is certainly not the norm but it can and has been done (I am proof). The challenge parties are by far the easiest and fastest way to succeed in Visalus.

Your very first step after choosing a distributor kit and joining will be to GO PUBLIC with your own health goals! Notice I didn’t say go public with your business link. Juicing For Vitamins And Detox

juicingWe started juicing today!

Be afraid. After my husband and I sat thru 2-3 documentaries (see list of those resources at the bottom of this post) about healthy eating and what’s really causing so much widespread disease in our bodies, we (for once) agreed to start juicing at least once a day, for now.

I sent him to the grocery store, or rather, he sent himself, and we bought enough veggies for a couple of juice servings. 

Neither of us were quite sure how this recipe would taste so we didn’t want to stock up on a ton of vegetables that may go bad. So, we ordered this (massive) juicing machine that at the moment I am uncertain as to where its final location will be (cuz it seems a bit large), we washed up all the parts carefully, prepared the veggies according to the recipe and voila… a whole pitcher of this amazingly green hulk like looking, ginger-lime-cucumber mix tasting liquid was produced.

Surely contains like a GAZILLION nutrients like vitamins and who knows what else. I don’t believe I have ever consumed anything this seemingly healthy in my life all in one seating. At least not in liquid form!

I snapped the photo you see on this post of my glass for you to have a look. It really did taste pretty good and I can’t imagine a better after dinner or breakfast treat. Although, for me personally, I am lucky to even get my protein shake in the shaker bottle in the morning as I get ready for work, let alone wash, cut, juice then wash everything again… BLEH. But evening and weekends?? TOTALLY JUICING IT!

Some of the benefits of juicing (there are many) include the sheer abundance of vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients you will extract from the vegetables and fruits you juice. The juicer will also extract all the insoluble fiber which is the fiber our bodies don’t need. Instead juicing delivers the nutrients in a more absorbable form and it will give a nice boost to your immune system as well. Those of you suffering from that nasty flu going around, you might consider trying this as an alternative or alongside whatever meds you are taking. Meds only cover symptoms anyway.

Ok, for those of you who want to give this a shot, here is the juice recipe we used today:

MEAN GREEN JUICE (by Joe Cross from Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead)

Ingredients

  •  1 cucumber
  • 4 celery stalks
  • 2 apples
  • 6-8 leaves kale (Australian tuscan cabbage)
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tbsp ginger

Directions

  1. Wash all produce well
  2. Peel the lemon, optional
  3. Juice
  4. Pour over ice
  5. Enjoy!

Get Rocking Abs With Myotatic Crunches

Getting rocking Abs as “easily” as possible. Although there is always a level of pain that must be endured! My mission is always to minimize this LOL.

But, here is my next totally doable abs exercise you can do from home.  I began doing these 10 days or so ago. Abs are already showing. Important note, no matter how many ab exercises you do, if you are not close to around 20% body fat or less they you just won’t be able to see them :-(. So get on a good nutritional program if you need to drop some body fat. As you know I recommend Visalus protein shakes before or after your workouts and as a meal replacement. They work. But if you don’t want Visalus, no hard feelings here, try other protein shake of your choice. Protein will help build muscle and muscle burns fat!

Moving on to the myotatic crunches. You will also need a BOSU ball. You can find these at every gym (you will then have to work out there, of course), and at any sporting good store. I got mine at Target for $99. You can find cheaper ones that do not have the stabilizer too for much less.  Also, there are hundreds of total body toning exercises you can do with the Bosu ball. This is just one I borrowed from Tim Ferris 4 Hour Body book.

To do the myotatic crunch, you will sit at the edge of the Bosu ball with your bottom pretty close to the floor. Sit up straight with both hands aiming straight to the ceiling and your biceps touching your head right at about your ears. You can out one extended palm over the other touching, as if you were going to dive into a pool (like a professional swimmer would, not like most of us would all crazy with no form). See picture top left for an idea of what this looks like, except that you will start with hands UP and not down. I could not find a darn pic to show this, figures. This one comes close enough. Read on…

Now, with hands always extended and without moving their position next to your ears, you will reach all the way back in a 4 second span until you touch the floor behind you. Focus on stretching your hands out as much as you can during the exercise. This helps stretch your abdominal muscles. Once you touch, then wait 2 seconds then UP AGAIN all the way to starting position. Keeping arms up and stretched helps focus your body to use the abdominal muscles to lift you up. Also, don’t do this fast. You want some resistance. Repeat 10 times. I do this 3 times. You can add weights to your hands once you can do the 10 repetitions. Tim recommends that women do not exceed 10lbs of weights for this exercise. But start with no weights.

As always, do what you can without hurting yourself! If you can’t lift yourself up, try other abdominal exercises to strengthen those muscles before attempting this one again. I use an 8lb medicine ball for another type of exercise. Check out my other abdominal exercises article here.

What To Eat While On The Challenge

I do not like feeling hungry. This is why strict “diets” simply don’t work for me. I wanna eat when I am hungry. Thankfully, eating the foods I now eat, I am hardly every hungry! Of course, NO ONE probably likes being hungry. I’d say that’s the reason we get into trouble to begin with!! Ha! But, after trying several groups of foods, I finally found one that fits my eating style. The recipe I am sharing here is a slow carb meal recipe.

What I mean by “groups” is that you will find low carb diets, high carb diets, low fat food, a combo, etc.. the point of diets is that a certain combination of nutrients when eaten together, will provide the best result. So, in essence, you can truly PICK ANY eating plan and if you can stick to the foods that work well together in it, you will probably lose weight. Easier said than done, I know.

If you love fruit and go on a no fruit plan (South Beach?)… you are gonna WANT fruit every day. And that’s not easy to deal with. If you go on a zero carb diet, then you are gonna seriously miss bread or pasta. And so on and so forth. So, you gotta decide what works for you, what you like eating and what you can “do without” for any plan to be successful for you.

Then, of course, ADD SOME EXERCISE. Not a requirement, but it helps with just about everything related to your health so why not include it!

On to my meal idea here. I pretty much stick to SLOW CARB foods (Google Tim Ferris 4 Hour Body). I, of course, include the Visalus shakes into this regimen, which works very nicely since protein is also a main component of this diet. Protein helps expedite your metabolism in the morning, it helps build lean muscle (together with weight training), and it keeps you full longer throughout the day when accompanied with slow carb (not to be confused with low carb) foods.

So, if losing weight and adding some muscle definition happens to be your goal too, then you will enjoy this dish. You can serve this one for breakfast, lunch OR dinner. I usually drink my shake for breakfast as my protein. I just had this for lunch today:

what to eat while on the challenge

Pinto Beans Egg Fritatta Recipe

3 medium organic eggs (you can reduce to 2)
2oz deli lean turkey slices cut up in little pieces
1 serving of canned pinto beans (well rinsed)
1/2 green onion (chopped)
1oz of finely cut regular onion
Salt to taste
Optional: fresh salsa

Mix all ingredients in a bowl together, then pour over heated medium oiled pan and cook til eggs are done over medium heat. Add fresh salsa on top if you’d like.

Approximate nutritional value: 33g protein, 20g carbs (slow carbs..good for you), 7g fiber (roughly 300 calories = one meal for most 1200-1400 calorie a day plans)
